ABOUT COMELEC REGION 2

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) – Regional Office 2 serves as the administrative and coordinating arm of the Commission within the Cagayan Valley Region, which comprises the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino. Headquartered in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, the Regional Office supervises and supports the operations of provincial election offices, city election offices, and municipal election offices in the region.

The primary mandate of COMELEC Region 2 is to implement the Commission’s policies, programs, and guidelines in accordance with the Philippine Constitution and election laws. It plays a crucial role in ensuring that elections in the region are free, orderly, honest, peaceful, and credible by overseeing:

  • Voter Registration – Managing the registration process, including the application, validation, and updating of voter records.
  • Election Preparations – Coordinating logistics, distribution of election paraphernalia, and training of electoral boards.
  • Election Day Operations – Supervising voting, counting, and transmission of election results in all localities within Region 2.
  • Voter Education – Conducting information drives and campaigns to increase voter awareness and participation.
  • Electoral Dispute Resolution Support – Assisting in the documentation, review, and forwarding of electoral cases and reports.

COMELEC Region 2 is headed by a Regional Election Director, assisted by Assistant Regional Election Directors, provincial election supervisors, election officers, election assistants and administrative staff. The office works closely with local government units, law enforcement agencies, schools, and civil society organizations to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process. Through its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and impartiality, COMELEC Region 2 upholds the democratic values of the nation and ensures that the people of Cagayan Valley can freely exercise their right to suffrage.
